SUMMARY:
This WWII era, concrete buttressed, brick and glass structure supports a rare Lamella type wooden roof believed to be of French origin. The
unique roof, and equally rare bipartioning hangar doors, were
carefully restored. The expansive
steel window frames, originally
designed to flood the interior
with natural light, were also
refurbished and reglazed. A
mezzanine expansion provides
new handicap accessible
restrooms and supports
additional display space
essential to the museum
conversion. All new construction is designed in period appropriate style to seamlessly merge with the original building.
